UVA alumna Danielle Collins has lived through the struggling life of an athlete. While almost every player who aims to script noteworthy results in the sport wrestles their battles, the American has her own set of highs and lows. Her road to tennis glory is filled with physical and financial restraints. With every victory, she suffered a setback, countering multiple issues such as a rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis. However, it did not stop Collins from chasing her dreams and delivering expected turnarounds.
Merely a week after concluding her Wimbledon campaign which saw her deliver an impressive performance, she stepped back into reality. And that certainly does not resonate with anything related to her professional life. Rather, the American talent was subjected to a troublesome project back home. Collins reflected on various topics on the phone with the ‘UVA (University of Virginia) Today.’
While most of the subject material revolved around her professional tennis career, she notably highlighted a water leakage issue she faced when she returned to her home in Florida. Collins stated that the situation has been concerning her while hoping to remedy the problem. “I got home to my house in Florida, and I had a big (water) leak. It’s been a tough few days just trying to get everybody out here and get this thing fixed.”

Collins is currently enjoying the best season of her career. Despite exiting the SW19 in the fourth round after losing to Barbora Krejcikova in straight sets, the American earned the nickname “Danimal”, owing to a string of laudable showdowns. While there are some hiccups in her off-court life, her on-court has certainly seen a bump in its final year.

This, in turn, helped her rise up the table in international rankings – claiming the World No. 9 spot. Now, she is scheduled to represent Team USA in the Paris Olympics, an honor she placed at the highest accord!
Danielle Collins is seeded No. 8 at the Paris Olympics
The women’s players of Team USA are seated in a commanding position at the Paris Olympics. The seeds for their tennis roster were recently revealed. To much amazement, 11 out of 16 players of the US Olympic singles tennis team are within the top 11 seeds. Notably, Danielle Collins will boast her rank as an eighth seed while compatriot Coco Gauff will be placed at No. 2.

Before the quadrennial event, the 30-year-old opened up about her upcoming appearance in the Games. Collins stated that she takes huge honor playing for her nation. It is worth noting that the event will mark a crucial part of her final year of the Tour. “It is one of the highest honors you can receive as an athlete, playing for your country. I love being on a team, and it has always been a goal of mine to be an Olympian.”
In the doubles women category, Collins will join forces with Desirae Krawczyk. They will occupy the fourth seed. The tennis showdown is slated to begin on July 27. Subsequently, the world will likely witness stirring performances from the US team as they commence their hunt for a gold medal in Paris!
