Coco Gauff in the Paris Olympics—Is she the future of American tennis or just a rising star?

What can be more satisfying for a family than witnessing their beloved member reaching new heights? For Coco Gauff’s family, perhaps nothing comes close. The American tennis star is all set to play in her first-ever Olympics in Paris,  just a couple of days later. This latest honor fills her family with immense pride.

The 20-year-old American player is all set to be the flag bearer for her country which makes her first ever Olympic games yet more special. Coco Gauff is the youngest player and the first tennis player from her country to have achieved this feat. As soon as this news got circulated online, Coco Gauff’s family took to Instagram to share their joy.

Gauff’s mother Candi Gauff commented on the official post of Team USA and wrote, “Congratulations! What a Dream!” She also took to her Instagram story and congratulated her daughter for the success. Candi is known for hyping up her children as they have continued to gain immense success in the sports arena. Hence, Coco’s latest feat is meant to be extremely significant for her mother. She further commented on a post by Vogue and wrote, “Amazing.” But, Candi isn’t the only Gauff to celebrate this success.

Coco Gauff’s brother Codey Gauff also took to his social media handle and shared the news about her sister’s success, thereby signifying his pride. He shared a couple of stories that highlight the news of Gauff being the flag bearer alongside the legendary basketball player LeBron James and expressed his joy over it. And definitely, the news is ecstatic enough to make the entire Gauff family go crazy!

The reigning US Open champion also demonstrated her happiness over the opportunity.I never thought in a million years I would have the honor of carrying the American flag for Team USA in the Opening Ceremony.” Continuing further, she shared her passion for her country. “I could not be more proud to lead my teammates with LeBron as we showcase our dedication and passion on the biggest stage there is — at a moment where we can bring athletes and fans together from around the world.” But more than Coco Gauff’s family’s happiness, this news speaks something significant of the American team.

Coco Gauff was selected for the honor as part of an internal voting procedure. Chosen by her fellow athletes from the country to represent the United States, her close friend Chris Eubanks equally proud of Gauff, made the announcement.

Eubanks said, “I’m incredibly proud of Coco. I don’t think there is anyone more deserving of this honor.” And this internal coordination makes United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee CEO Sarah Hirshland certain of the team’s success. “To be nominated by your teammates for this honor speaks volumes about the way in which Coco approaches her sport and her role as a member of Team USA. I’m thrilled for her to start her Olympic journey here in Paris.”

As Gauff approaches to play her first ever Olympics, it will be fascinating to see how these honors add up to her confidence. Can Gauff win big in Paris? Only time will tell.
