Will Serena Williams make a grand comeback at the Paris Olympics, or is it just wishful thinking?

After competing at the 2000, 2008, 2012, and 2016 Olympics, Serena Williams etched her name into the sport’s history. But will fans see her at the Stade Roland-Garros in Paris to support the next generation of American tennis players? Well, Alexis Ohanian has dropped a clue, which has sparked a flurry of speculation!

He took to his social media to give people a hint of what was to come. Ohanian shared a picture of Olympia trying to put a baguette inside a beige-colored bag on her shoulder. “Ready. Paris. Olympics. @olympiaohanian,” he wrote on his Instagram story. So it looks like the father-daughter duo will be present to show their support. But what about Serena?

The retired tennis star couldn’t stay as well. As per reports, she was in Paris for the Prelude event at the Louis Vuitton Foundation. She was dressed in a black Louis Vuitton pantsuit and a blue handbag, and commanded the audience’s attention with her aura. In fact, she co-hosted it with Charlize Theron, Rosalia, and Omar Sy. Further, big names like Zendaya and Snoop Dogg also attended the event.

Luckily, it seems that the idea of an Olympic appearance indeed crossed the Ohanian family’s mind. Sadly, this was not the case last time at the Tokyo Olympics, where Serena Williams chose not to participate in the event. “There’s a lot of reasons that I made my Olympic decision. I don’t really want to – I don’t feel like going into them today. Maybe another day,” Williams had said. It would’ve been her fifth Olympic outing had she participated.

Regardless, Serena Williams is in Paris. Now it remains to be seen what events she will attend. It would be a big deal if she chooses to watch Coco Gauff, who will make her Olympics debut in the French capital.

Serena Williams walked so that Coco Gauff could run!

At nineteen years of age, Serena Williams clinched her first gold medal in tennis, along with her doubles partner and sister, Venus Williams. It was a moment of pride, not only for Williams but also for the nation. The American player did not stop there. She went ahead to achieve one more gold medal in 2008, alongside her sister again. But it wasn’t until 2012 that the former World No. 1 achieved the same feat alone on-court, boasting a gold medal in singles at the London Games.

Talking about her experience in 2021, she stated, “I would have to say, one of my favorite memories was winning gold to be honest, my own gold medal.. That was really fun.”

In total, she has four Olympic gold medals, and that’s a tough number to surpass for Gauff. However, the younger American athlete, who had posters of Serena Williams hanging on her bedroom walls, has taken inspiration from the best.

Serena Williams was just an inspiring stranger to her back then. But now, she is a great mentor and friend to Gauff. So what would be better than seeing Serena Williams cheer for Coco Gauff from the stands, right? Well, only time will tell us if that takes place. However, the 20-year-old American has already made history.

She was named the US flag-bearer, alongside LeBron James. This makes her the youngest American to do so ever. “I never thought in a million years I would have the honor of carrying the American flag for Team USA in the Opening Ceremony … I could not be more proud to lead my teammates with LeBron as we showcase our dedication and passion on the biggest stage there is – at a moment where we can bring athletes and fans together from around the world.”

Well, Gauff looks promising as she walks into the Olympics. Do you think she will win gold?
