As Serena wrote, “Every day I miss playing then I think about training for 8+ hours a day…. It’s not that bad right?” Her fans started putting in sarcastic comments.

The sarcasm and the wicked humor are directed at Serena, who they are accusing of lying about her struggle. Fans have pointed out that there is no way she trains or used to train for more than 8 hours a day. The famous Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn also reacted to her tweet in a Quote Retweet of her own where she trolled Serena for lying about her life after retirement.

Another fan straight out called her a liar and accused Williams of lying to her followers multiple times during her career.

Another fan pointed out about how they miss watching Serena’s matches in the Australian Open. The idea is that sometimes the matches do stream live after midnight for the USA due to time zones, but that is not an everyday story. Just like fans believe Serena did not train for 8+ hours every day and is just talking in hyperbole.

Fans have also “UNO-reverse”-d Serena’s statement with a Tom Brady reference- the NFL quarterback who retired on February 1st only to train heavy and un-retire on March 13 in the same year.

However, all isn’t fun and games as fans also took a more aggressive stance and asked Serena to go back to making cinnamon rolls with her daughter.

A loyal fan has also asked her to get back to Wimbledon, just one more time.

As a highly accomplished athlete, it is reasonable to assume that Williams has had to undergo rigorous training sessions throughout her career. However, the exact duration and intensity of her training sessions remain unknown. Also, training for long hours does not necessarily equate to better performance, as the quality and efficiency of training sessions are equally important. The training regimen of a professional athlete can vary significantly, and a one-size-fits-all approach does not apply.

What remains to be seen is whether Serena takes the advice of her fans and gives in to coming back on the court one more time.
