How heartbreaking is it if your family member, and especially your daughter, doesn’t support the same NFL team as you? Well, here we’re talking about a lifetime of contention, a concept that Alexis Ohanian might not be very fond of!

A die-hard supporter of the Washington Commanders since he was a 5-year-old, the 41-year-old was first introduced to the team by his father, who sat him down to give him a vital life lesson. ‘The NFL is a ton of fun, but the Washington Redskins are your team,” the old man had reportedly said back in 1988. And that’s a learning Serena Williams‘ husband has carried till date. However, the same can’t be said for his daughter Olympia, who’s yet to sit for that particular class with her old man.

Talking about the same, the angel investor, as per a snippet from the latest episode of his podcast Business Dad with Roy Wood Jr, said, “I grew up in the DC area, I’d say for a better part of my childhood. I was a Commander’s fan.” Further, he also revealed his biggest fear concerning the Commanders’ arch-rivals, Cowboys. “So I would be crushed if my daughter cheered for the Cowboys. I can’t explain why. There’s no rational reason. I wouldn’t care, you know, for so many other things.” Notably, the Washington-based team has been a part of every vital Ohanian milestone.

Back in 2006, when the Reddit co-founder sold the forum social network for an undisclosed sum, the first thing he did was upgrade his father, Chris Ohanian’s season tickets at FedEx Field, from section 437 to the club level. Despite that, the most hilarious and perhaps memorable souvenir Alexis Ohanian’s old man decided to save is a newspaper clipping. The article, dated November 24, 2009, featured a young Ohanian, way before he rose to fame alongside his father. The headline read: Are the Redskins Losing Washington? If we go down memory lane to the 2009 NFL season, the Washington Redskins had a pretty forgettable run. With 14 losses and just four wins, the team stood at the bottom of the NFC East Standings.

But thankfully, the Ohanian clan has stayed dedicated to their team and still continues to do so!

But one thing’s clear: The games aren’t just time passing activities. They are a way for the family to come closer with a common thread. And while Olympia hasn’t joined that bandwagon yet, the father-daughter duo continues to stay close, with the latter even acting as a judge on her father’s activites.

Olympia Ohanian is her father’s review manager

In his recent podcast, Ohanian opened up about turning to his eldest daughter, Olympia, for a review of his fatherly duties. And what ensued was definitely some tough love.

“I literally ask Olympia for a performance review,” revealed the father of two, while adding, She’s only six. But I love asking her what are things that Papa could have done over the last few months better.” Safe to say the reviews (mostly) go well. Well, mostly. “No, you’re great. You did everything great,” the eldest daughter of Serena Williams reportedly said before dropping her hard verdict. “Sometimes she’s like, you know, you just squeeze me too hard. And you got to ease up on that. So please don’t squeeze me too hard,” Ohanian hilariously revealed.

The incident also underscores a mantra that Alexis Ohanian often follows: It’s easy to be a father, but hard to be a dad. From making pancakes every weekend to showing up for his daughter’s dance recitals, Ohanian is indeed very dedicated. And as per what the stories say, it might be a trait he inherited from his own father. “Shout out to my dad for giving me the blueprint of what it means to be a man. When I was a kid, my dad would often make pancakes on Sunday. So, I inherited that tradition and I leveled it up and I make pancake art for my girls,” he revealed in an earlier conversation on the ‘We Are Man Enough’ podcast.

It seems the performance review manager has been very balanced with her father. However, it would be interesting to see which NFL team she decides to cheer on. Do you think Alexis Ohanian can influence his daughter into following the Washington Redskins? Let us know in the comments below!
