Tennis stalwart Serena Williams revealed her half-sister Yetunde Price’s exclusive comment that helped Williams embrace her flaws. Serena Williams previously spoke about her constant insecurities with her body while growing up with her elder sister Venus Williams. Now after giving birth to two daughters, this American tennis legend revealed how she started accepting herself the way she is and became an icon of self-love.

Williams in a recent interview, spoke about her challenging adolescence as she compared her body and look with her elder sister, Venus Williams. Williams shared her feelings and said- “‘It wasn’t about her at all. Tennis players in general didn’t look like me. Especially the top players or anyone that ever won Grand Slams. Nothing like me. So it was, ‘Can I win looking like this? Can I perform looking like this?'”

However, revealing her half-sister Yetunde Price’s contribution, Williams said- “I was really struggling, and she’s [Yetunde] like, ‘You know, everyone is different. You’re not Venus, and you’re never going to be Venus. You’re never going to be as thin as her, and that’s okay. And you’re never going to be as tall as her, and that’s okay. Nothing is wrong with that. You have a beautiful body on your own. You have a beautiful face’. And that’s when I first started being more comfortable with who I was.”

In her latest Instagram post, Williams seemed very dedicated to promoting self-love. Sharing her image in a white bikini with her younger daughter, Adira Ohanian, Williams wrote- “Loving yourself is essential. I find that I have to remind myself of that self-love through all different stages in my life. Right now I love that my body is not picture perfect. I love that I smell like milk – that milk sustains @adiraohanian I love getting to know a new version of my body. It is a change, but it’s a change that has been well worth it. So start this week, knowing that you are loved, and that starts with you.”
