American tennis star Coco Gauff has played fine tennis in the past few months. After having a great 2022 season, the American rising star made a solid start to her Australian Open campaign and made it to the fourth round. However, Latvian tennis star Jelena Ostapenko got the better of her to secure a place in the quarterfinal.
While her singles campaign ended disappointingly, the American still has a chance to win the doubles title. Addressing the media after her loss, Gauff was visibly sad. However, she showed great maturity while handling the questions.

Only an athlete knows the hard work behind preparing for any tournament. As the Australian Open is the first Grand Slam event of the year, everyone looks to make a winning start. However, it’s a part of not only sport but life. We don’t always achieve what we want and the current world number 7 understands that really well.
After putting in all those hard yards, it is disappointing to miss your goal. However, it’s equally important to move on. After losing her fourth-round match in the Australian Open, Gauff was visibly in agony. The 18-year-old wiped her tears as she struggled to control her emotions while answering the media questions.
While she had the option to stop it then and there, the brave 18-year-old decided to keep going. As the clip went viral on the internet, fans are lauding the American tennis star.
Former world number one Victoria Azarenka was among the first to acknowledge the maturity of the young tennis star. She also lauded her and wished her luck for the future.
Coco is handling herself so mature on and off the court! A lot of pressure and expectations and she is always class 👏🏻 https://t.co/NKdsnA90uO

To this wonderful young woman, indeed, your day in the sun will come, as @Venuseswilliams. You are already a star.
I will put a poster of you next to Nadal in Geneva. https://t.co/gqE8i9XP9d

I was super impressed with Coco Gauff during our Auckland ASB Classic. She was enjoying herself with off-court activities as well as showing how mature she is for an 18yr old. I enjoyed meeting her family as well 💕 https://t.co/DXW9AbDIjp

I remember watching her vs Venus at Wimbledon and getting that same feeling watching Serena for the first time. Ready for her to ascend. https://t.co/U0A2wCwJvH

While most of the fans lauded Gauff for her maturity, a few also said that it’s perfectly normal to be emotional. Often a person showing emotions is termed as soft, but for an 18-year-old or even a grown-up, it is very normal to feel the pain of failing to achieve something you have planned.
Gauff is still very young and has a lot of time in her career. These experiences will only help her strengthen and make a stronger comeback. It’s just the start of the year, with three more Grand Slam events lined up. She still has a chance in the doubles leg and is hopeful of doing well with her partner Jessica Pegula.
