Alexis Ohanian isn’t only the husband of tennis legend Serena Williams, he is also one of the world’s most successful tech entrepreneurs and investors. For someone like Ohanian, the growing adoption of AI is something to follow closely. AI tools such as ChatGPT are revolutionizing content creation. There is a host of other tools in the works as well, which go far beyond content. So far, AI has worked wonders for brands like Amazon, Netflix, and Twitter. It looks set to benefit many more in the years to come.

Recently, Ohanian happened to be the special guest on an episode of the Bloomberg Businessweek podcast. During the episode, the host asked Ohanian about the investment opportunities across the spheres of social media, cryptocurrency, and AI. As usual, Ohanian gave an insightful reply that should help tech investors make better investments.

The significant strides that AI has taken in recent years is nothing short of remarkable. For all we know, AI is only set to grow bigger and better, and unsurprisingly, Ohanian agrees. According to Ohanian, investing in AI right now makes more sense than investing in cryptocurrency and social media.

During the discussion, Ohanian’s mind leapt into the future. He also painted a poignant picture of AI 10 years down the line. “So 10 years down the road, AI continues to ascend like you can now spin up anything. Its ability to generate, let’s say content, is trivial.” The tech entrepreneur added, “you could say you want a birthday song sung by Beyonce naming you and your favorite puppy.”

Ohanian also asked the host to flex her imagination and went deep into how AI’s rising penetration is likely to spur the adoption of the blockchain. “Imagine content is everywhere and anyone can create all the content they want. It actually now comes full circle back to why having a decentralized global ledger is so important.” He concluded by saying, “I think in the long term, the proliferation of AI actually makes a strong case for the blockchain.”

For instance, in May 2021, Ohanian’s venture fund Seven Seven Six was a prominent part of a mammoth $5.3 million investment in blockchain firm QuickNode. A few months later, in November, Seven Seven Six promised to invest $50 million in various decentralized social projects. Solana Labs, a prominent name in blockchain tech, is also a part of this investment and will invest a further $50 million.
