With the preparations for the US Open in full swing, stars like Belinda Bencic and Donna Vekic have already reached New York after their early exits at the Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati. Recently, they were involved in a fun training session where the two recreated the different handshakes male and female players have after their matches. Tennis legend Chris Evert enjoyed the hilarious video and reacted to it.

The last Grand Slam tournament of the season starts next week and will see top players battle it out for glory.

 

Chris Evert reacts to Belinda Bencic and Donna Vekic’s hilarious video

The Swiss star took to Instagram to share a video in which she enacted the handshakes that male and female players have post-match. World Number 85, Donna Vekic, partnered with Bencic in the video, as they enjoyed their time together during a practice session on the hard courts of New York.

Reacting to the hilarious video, Evert said, “You two are TOO much.” 

Moreover, she added, “This is hilarious and …. Pretty true!!!”

In the video, Bencic and Vekic first enact the handshakes done by the male players after their matches. The handshake was followed by a hug and pat on the back. Subsequently, the two burst into laughter following this act.

Thereafter, they performed the women players’ handshakes, which was a more customary one, without eye contact.

Bencic and Vekic’s disappointing campaign in Cincinnati

In the recently concluded Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati, both Bencic and Vekic had early exits at the tournament. Bencic, who was the 12th seed at the tournament, lost in the opening round against Sorana Cirstea of Romania in a three-set thriller.

Meanwhile, Donna Vekic’s campaign in Cincinnati ended in the second qualifying round. She went down against Marie Bouzkova in straight sets. Bencic and Vekic will be looking to come back stronger in the upcoming Grand Slam tournament in New York. The US Open commences next week.
