23-time Grand Slam champion, Serena Williams has been eyeing that elusive 24th Grand Slam title since the 2017 Australian Open. However, she failed on every occasion to date and as a result, also failed to match Margaret Court’s record number of Major titles (24).

It’s not like she did not have the opportunity, as she reached 2 US Open finals and 2 Wimbledon finals in between. After retiring from Wimbledon last year, she missed three more Grand Slam tournaments. Now, she is finally back in her favorite Grand Slam in Wimbledon, which she won 7 times in her career. During the pre-tournament press conference, she made it clear why she was here.

Today, along with many players, Serena was also present at the pre-tournament press conference at Wimbledon. During the press conference, a reporter asked the American legend, “What would be a good outcome for you at the tournament?”
In reply, Serena said, “You know the answer to that (laughs)… Come on now.“

Serena had a tough draw at Wimbledon

Meanwhile, Serena faced a pretty tough draw, as the women’s draw for Wimbledon took place yesterday. In the very first match, she will face the French tennis player Harmony Tan. If she wins that match, it will be a tough road ahead for her at the Championships. According to the seeding of this year’s main draw, Serena could face Karolina Pliskova in the third round and Coco Gauff in the fourth round.

Even if she wins all the rounds, she will eventually meet Iga Swiatek in the semi-final, as they are in the same half of the draw. Moreover, Serena played only two matches before the tournament, which may not be enough as she was out of tennis for almost a year.
