Naomi Osaka has had a rough year. Since she walked out of the French Open 2021 and skipped Wimbledon seeking mental well-being, she has been struggling with her form. It’s almost like she incurred some invisible injury that has weighed her down enough to make her struggle even at the initial rounds.

Osaka, before her struggles with mental health, was a genuine threat to the 23-time Grand slam champion Serena Williams. However, now her grip has loosened to the extent that she seems like a newcomer. However, the fans of the Japanese are still hoping that their favorite star will regain her form. Though at the same time haters are gaining power. Here’s a tweet that portrays the varying reactions of the tennis fanbase. 

Tennis fans react to claims of Naomi Osaka

Recently the four time Grand Slam champion expressed she feels like the pandemic affected her growth adversely. “I think quarantine stunted my growth,” she wrote.

As a response to this, some shared similar experiences while other’s decided to drag her down. Let’s start with the positive comments. “4’11 queen we stan,” one wrote.

 

Speaking of the ones who targeted her poor form, one responded, “In tennis absolutely.”

 

Further, one pointed out how with the former World no.1 giving subpar performances and Ash Barty out of the sport, there is no constant player to root for in WTA tournaments.

The user tweeted, “I had all my hopes on Naomi and Ash Barty, both have ditched. Still unable to pick new favourites in WTA.”

This season’s only noteworthy performance of Osaka 

The Japanese tennis ace seemed to be at her best in just one tournament this year, and it was at the Miami Open. She, beating the heat, stormed the hard courts of Miami. Osaka, dropping only one set, reached the finals of the WTA 1000 event.

However, in the final, she clashed with the Polish tennis ace Iga Swiatek, who riding high on a monstrous form was on her way to creating a 37-match win streak. Swiatek outclassed the 24-year-old in straight sets of 6-4 6-0 to claim the title and mark both the events of summer doubles under her name.
