After a disappointing run in the WTA Finals, the French Open 2022 finalist was getting a lot of heat from tennis fans and former players.

Despite a rigorous schedule, Gauff knows her game and came up with unique ways to enjoy some lighthearted moments on the Tour, like taking the Tortilla Challenge with fellow tennis star Taylor Townsend.

Coco Gauff took the Tortilla Challenge

The Tortilla Challenge is the latest TikTok trend which includes a lot of fun activities that you can have with your friends. The first step is to fill your mouth with water. Next up you have to play rock, paper, scissors to decide who goes first. The winner gets an option to slap the opponent using a tortilla. The challenge here is to get the water out of your opponent’s mouth.

Gauff took the challenge against compatriot Taylor Townsend in July. At first, Gauff won in rock, paper, scissors. She took aim with the tortilla and successfully got the water out of Townsend’s mouth. However, in the process, she slapped a bit too hard. As Townsend said, “you just slapped me!!” Both the tennis stars seemed to have fun as they were laughing continuously.

The 18-year-old started well this year. Both in singles and doubles, Gauff made her mark. She made it to the French Open final in both singles and doubles. However, she could not pass the last hurdle. Later, the American performed brilliantly at the US Open. However, her campaign was cut short after her defeat in the quarterfinal.

Her consistent performance saw her rise in ranks and she became the youngest tennis player after Maria Sharapova to qualify for the WTA Finals. Suffering from a dip in form, Gauff lost all three of her group-stage matches badly. After an early exit from the WTA Finals, she also lost against Katerina Siniakova in her only singles match in the Billie Jean King cup.
