Elina Svitolina is truly an inspirational female icon to many. Not only did she ace on the courts of many famous tournaments but also her motherhood journey is a remarkable one. She wasn’t present at the beginning of 2023’s tennis season. She was taking a break to embrace herself as a new mom and seven months later she returned like a queen defeating the world’s no 1 player in Wimbledon 2023. However, Svitolina recalls that balancing between family and work wasn’t easy for her!

Not to forget, this Ukrainian tennis star also works actively for her country raising a great resistance against the Russian invasion. Not only did she bag a victory but her friend Iga Shviontek made amazing charitable donations for Ukrainian children. But how did Svitolina manage to do it all so perfectly?

Elina Svitolina’s take on balancing tennis, motherhood and wife

Elina Svitolina is not just famous for her tennis skills and Ukrainian resistance, she happens to be the wife of famous ATP star Gael Monfils, with whom she recently had a child. Although she was on a break to embrace her motherhood at the beginning, she came back in full force defeating the world’s number one player in the Grand Slam. However, Svitolina said that balancing both family and tennis wasn’t easy for her. She said- “ it is really difficult, because you have to sacrifice something. I want to spend much more time with my daughter, but I have work, tennis, and media activities. ” 

However, Svitolina recalled that after being a mother, tennis is now her “second priority“. But this is also because Ukraine’s work-torn scene has mentally impacted her for a long. She spoke about her challenges of being in the top position, where she can speak for her country. Now that her husband Gael Mofis is also busy with tennis, she is planning more time with him- “Gael Mofis and I are traveling together to spend more time because tennis is taking him away.” A true superwoman she is, isn’t it?

Motherhood and family might be truly important for rising tennis star Elina Svitolina but her dedication to Ukraine’s resistance against Russia is not stopping anytime soon. She held the Svitolina & Stakhovskyi Tennis Tour 2023, where the final matches were disrupted by sudden air raids.

However, Svitolina didn’t stop there and organized the award ceremony in a bomb shelter. This tennis star commented expressing her love for Ukraine- “For me, returning home and being in Ukraine is a real manifestation of love“. For this love, she aims to spread the news of Ukraine’s distress to the world.

Svitolina truly has a lot of things in her pocket right now. But the way she managed to surprise her fans with a great comeback after her maternity break, she will surely pull off a great balance between all of her priorities.
