‘You Got That Serena (Williams) in You’– Proud Dad Alexis Ohanian Reveals How Daughter Olympia Inherits Her Mom’s Spark

Alexis Ohanian is a “proud girl dad!” Serena Williams’ businessman husband clearly prioritizes his family over anything else. He is often seen sharing a few glimpses of his adorable moments with their daughters on his social media accounts. Ohanian believes that the “greatest thing” he could ever do for his daughters was “show up for them.” According to him, one of the biggest goals of his life has now been making Olympia realize that “Papa loves her and is always going to be there for her.” His favorite part of being a girl dad is that he now gets the chance to learn some wonderful and unique things alongside her little daughters, but what’s that one thing he never lets her daughter say?

Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian got married in 2017 in New Orleans, and they are now parents to Olympia and Adira. Parenthood has significantly changed the lives of both these parents, who have focused their respective careers on philanthropic work to set a good example for their daughters. Talking about setting examples, well, these two well-known entities have always managed to uphold a positive aura around themselves. Reflecting on positivity, Alexis Ohanian recently spoke of one of the most rewarding aspects of fatherhood during a recent episode of the Jay Shetty podcast. He highlighted how Olympia reminded him of Serena Williams.

Ohanian revealed, “One of the most satisfying parts of fatherhood is seeing your kid fail and then seeing your kid get it right. Whatever they want to do, I have zero tolerance for them not trying their absolute best. Like, I don’t even let Olympia say ‘can’t.‘ If she says can’t, I’m like, what was that? We don’t say that word.”

Alexis Ohanian is often seen accompanying his daughter, Olympia in her golfing sessions. Previously, he shared a social media post claiming that his daughter was better than him on the tee and he even admitted that he was more than happy to be his daughter’s caddie.

Recalling their golfing sessions, Ohanian added, “Getting her into golf, she’ll totally whiff on a ball. And once she got so upset, she pulled the club up and was about to smash it. I was like, Olympia. She just casually put the thing down. I was like, oh, you got that Serena [Williams] in you.” We’ve seen Serena Williams break her rackets in rage/frustration during her matches several times in her career and perhaps Ohanian wanted to cheekily hint at that.

However, he also spoke about why he really wants to see his kids fail. “I need her to sit in that and soak that up and get okay with it. But I need her to know anytime she sees excellence, the only reason she’s seeing is because of countless, countless hours of trying and failing and practicing that led up to it that no one saw.“ Not only Ohanian but even Serena Williams has, time and again, reflected on how she always wants her daughters to be surrounded by a lot of positivity.

In an old interview, Serena said, “Becoming a mum has changed my perspective on a lot of things, I want to leave a legacy. I want to be this positive person for my daughter-everything I do, I want to do for my daughter.”

We have seen both Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian often speak about their parenthood journey, but what advice did Alexis’ father Chris Ohanian recently give to him about raising his daughters, Olympia and Adira?

Just before Adira’s birth, Alexis Ohanian shared a heartfelt note for his father, where he wrote, “Any man can be a father, but not every father is a dad. I’m grateful that I had such a great role model in my dad, Chris Ohanian, who is the reason why I know what matters.” Alexis’ father has been an inspirational figure for him throughout his life. The two of them are often seen having fun moments together while sharing their common love for the NFL. Recently, Alexis again praised his father for his parenting style.

During the Business Grandpa podcast, he asked his father, “Are there any other moments in particular that you’re proud of? I don’t want to hear you just talk about why you’re proud of me but of yourself. I did not turn out terribly, you should be able to feel at least somewhat proud of the job you did.” In reply to that, Chris said, “You turned out darn well. That’s what you hope for. As a parent, you do the best you can. It doesn’t always ensure that things are going to turn out well. The expectation is you want things that turn out well for your child.”

Alexis Ohanian has been quite vocal about how fatherhood has profoundly changed his life and career. Despite the challenges, fans now admire how he still manages to spend time with his daughters, golfing and playing video games, or even baking pancakes for them. However, despite all the valiant efforts, does Chris have any parenting advice for his son? Well, of course, he has.

Chirs recently spoke about how parents should avoid getting harsh on their kids, even during extreme situations. Elaborating further, he said, “I remember when you were to pizza! That was a great job for a teenager. You know they(kids) will come up with something and certainly your response as a parent could go off and you would say ‘I don’t know what the hell you’re thinking about‘. And obviously, the kids are gonna receive it like ‘oh god‘, and then they wanna go in the opposite direction. So see you try to not be too strong in a negative way, even if you might feel that, you try to survive through it.”
