Miami Open and the hard-court season both are very close to their closing for this year. The finale of the Miami Open is at the doorstep and what a match it is going to be. On April 2nd, the former world no.1, Naomi Osaka, and current world no.1, Iga Swiatek will lock horns for the title. Evidently, an undeniably nerve-wracking match lies ahead.

Prior to the finals, Iga Swiatek and Naomi Osaka had a conversation to let off some steam.

Swiatek and Osaka’s Little Chat

Swiatek and Naomi had a little ice breaker session before the big match. Naomi took the lead, keeping the conversation light and breezy, and asked, “What is your favorite ice cream flavor?”

Iga gave some thoughts and replied, “Probably cookies and cream”

Naomi was quite not impressed with her choice as she said, “What, oh my god why?”

“Oh, you don’t like me anymore,” Swiatek jokingly said

To which Osaka replied,” Okay, I still like you, but it’s really hard to accept this. What’s your top three then?” She asked.

“Chocolate,” Iga answered. Looking at Osaka not approving of this option as well, she chuckled and said, “What’s wrong with chocolate? I really like chocolate.” Osaka responded by saying, “I don’t like it, it just tastes weird.”

Naomi Osaka and Iga Swiatek up Till Now

Speaking about Naomi Osaka, she didn’t have a great start in the sunshine double as she had to walk out of Indian Wells quite early. However, she found her missing form and is playing her best tennis currently in Miami.

Although she struggled a little against Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic in the semis, she thrashed almost every player on her way up to the semifinals depicting her dominance. The 24-year-old has impressive records in hard courts and now that she is in her best form, she will stand tall against world no 1 Iga Swiatek.

On the other hand, Iga is riding high and is currently on a 16 match win streak. She has outclassed nearly every opponent of hers since the start of the tournament. Further, she hardly let any match proceed to the third set and bagged her matches within the first two sets.

Osaka and Swiatek, prior to this match, have played only once against each other, in 2019 in Toronto. The Japanese tennis ace took an easy win over the latter by defeating her in straight sets of  7-6, 6-4. Now that Iga is displaying totally different gameplay, an easy win does not seem like an option in the upcoming finals.
