Simona Halep, the Romanian tennis star, has won two Grand Slam titles and 23 career titles in total. Further, she has claimed the ranking of World No.1 twice up till now. Currently, she is gearing up to battle it out for the 2022 Wimbledon Championship.

However, prior to her first-round match, Halep went for some fun off-court activity. The 2019 Wimbledon champion, after speaking with the media about her expectations and form, challenged her coach Patrick Mouratoglou for a round of table tennis.

Halep, with the Wimbledon at the doorstep, invited her coach for a game of table tennis to blow off some steam. After destroying the world renounced coach, she shared a clip from their tussle to pull Mouratoglou’s leg. She wrote in one of her Instagram stories, “I think today you are the one who needs coaching.”

To which Mouratoglou, who seemed satisfied with his game, responded by writing, “I gave it all. No regrets. I found a better player.” The French tennis coach has been traveling alongside Halep since the start of the clay court season.

Further, Mouratoglou is known as one of the best coaches of this generation. Before teaming up with the Romanian, he formed a successful partnership of more than a decade with the 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams.

The former World No.1 failed to impress in this year’s clay court season. However, she has trained enough for the upcoming grass based Grand Slam. Halep after facing a second round exit in the French Open started training for the grass swing.

Halep started her journey in the grass swing with the ATP 250 event in Birmingham. There, she outclassed every opponent in straight sets to reach the semifinals. However, in the nail biting semifinals, the Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia slipped the ticket to the finals out of her hands.

Thereafter, the 30-year-old stepped on the outdoor grass courts of the Bad Homburg Open. But unfortunately, she had to say goodbye to the title over there as well because of a neck injury that occurred in the semifinals against the Canadian, Bianca Andreescu. Further, now what’s ahead of Halep is the first round of Wimbledon on 28th June.
