Sachia Vickery came across a rough patch on social media platforms after revealing her intentions to open a profile on the internet content subscription service Onlyf**s. To much amazement, this ‘shock’ update wasn’t all that irked fans.

Ranked 208 in the world, Vickery hasn’t enjoyed much success on the tour. Despite kicking off the 2024 season on a positive note by finishing semifinalist at ITF Grade 1 in Mexico, the American player experienced a sharp drop in form in the months that followed. She couldn’t surpass the qualifying rounds of ITF or tour-level events and when she did, Vickery couldn’t move past the Round of 16 on the big stage.

She even commenced her 2025 campaign from down under as she faced a qualifying round exit at the ASB Classic in Auckland. Hoping to thwart concerns surrounding her performance, the 29-year-old entered the Australian Open as a qualifier and registered a hard-fought three-set victory over Aoi Ito in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, to advance in the second qualifying tie. However, the American sent shockwaves in the tennis community after seemingly clarifying her priorities a day before her main draw quest in Melbourne.

Truth be told, fans have a valid point. The ‘Happy Slam’, like any other top-tier major event, invites the most formidable challenges from competitors, battling to clinch glory at Melbourne Park. Any deviance from training and focus before showdowns can adversely affect players’ chances at the hardcourt event. In the case of Vickery, these concerns take immense priority, seeing as she hasn’t enjoyed much success on the Grand Slam stage.
