Alexis Ohanian, the American internet entrepreneur, has found inspiration for his professional endeavors from his wife Serena Williams, and daughter Olympia on a regular basis. It was only because of the two he decided to play a crucial role in making equal pay a reality in soccer. For that, he made an investment of $100 million in the Natalie Portman-founded Angel City FC. How did Serena Williams and Olympia become the reason behind Ohanian’s investment in Angel City FC?

It was during the 2019 World Cup when the US Women’s soccer team secured their fourth title. Ohanian was overjoyed and wished that their daughter Olympia could also play like that one day.

However, it was Williams’ reply that made him embark on a new journey. Williams stated Olympia can but only if she was paid her worth. That day Ohanian decided and now is the leading investor of Angel City FC.
