Apart from being a tennis icon, the player is a successful businesswoman. She has expanded her fitness wear brand ‘EleVen by Venus’ with multiple collections. Adding to that, she has once again launched a new series of fit wear, mesmerizing her fans with it.

A rebel by nature, Venus broke away from the traditional methods of the sporting realm, awarding men more than women players and fought for equal pay with her sister, Serena Williams. She has embedded the same values in her new collection of fit wear too.

The seven-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams is not just a tennis icon. Pioneering her move to make equal pay a reality, she has given millions of women around the world hope to break away from the shackles of conventional gender standards.

Manifesting these values in her new collection Girl Power: Rebel, Williams has launched a new line of fitness wear. She took to the official Instagram page and stories of her brand EleVen to announce its launch on 2nd May. Posing in a pink-check format dress, Williams looked fearless, like the name of her collection.

With a wide variety of prints ranging from classic whites to floral ones, and soft safari greens to soothing lilacs, Williams has launched it to fit the likings of her customers.

The American tennis legend has always carried the loudest voice in raising the concerns of female players. She was the one who avidly took charge to make equal pay in tennis a reality. So, the name of the new collection befits her iconic personality.

How did Williams play a role in bridging the equal pay gap? 

Billie Jean King laid the foundation stone for launching a battle against gender pay gap in tennis. It was only after the Battle of Sexes back in 1973 that the US Open became the first major to make equal pay a reality.

However, it was Venus Williams who took the baton after. In 2007, Wimbledon made sure to make the same move. Interestingly, she was the first female to get equal pay at the SW19. In a podcast appearance with TB12 in 2021, Williams stated she was super proud of making it possible.
