Townsend’s Grand Slam struggle
The American player has never reached the playoffs of the Slams in singles, let alone take home a title. Her best statistics in Wimbledon were when she reached the second round in two consecutive years, 2018 and 2019. However, in doubles, the twenty-seven-year-old reached two Slam finals, but none of them was in Wimbledon. One was the French Open 2023, and another was US Open 2022.
Before turning professional, the recent Roland Garros doubles finalist claimed the title of Australian Open at the junior level. She won against Yulia Putintseva and took home her only Grand Slam title to date. It has been eleven years since she achieved this, and the hunger to do more is evident in her practice. All we need to do is sit back, relax, and let the grass take charge!
