Aryna Sabalenka is unstoppable this season! The Belarusian powerhouse has been dominating the courts, and her incredible run at the Wuhan Open is just the latest example of why she’s considered one of the most formidable players in tennis right now. But behind all that success and determination, Sabalenka never forgets to acknowledge the people who stand by her through thick and thin. After yet another title victory, the star took a moment to thank one of her biggest sources of strength and support—her boyfriend, Georgios Frangulis.

The Belarusian star displayed some sensational skills at the finals of the tournament against local star Qinwen Zheng. Despite dropping the second set, she managed to whisk out Zheng in a three-setter thriller 6-3, 5-7, 6-3. With this, she clinched her 3rd consecutive title at the Wuhan Open and her 4th title of the season. But besides her thrilling performance, what caught the attention of the fans was an adorable exchange between Sabalenka and her boyfriend.  

Speaking in the on-court interview, Sabalenka thanked her boyfriend for his relentless support. “Thank you so much and of course, thank you my beautiful boyfriend for your support. Thank you and I love you,” she said. While she made these remarks, Frangulis was seen making adorable gestures from the stands. Interestingly, Frangulis also reciprocated Sabalenka’s sentiments after her victory.

The Oakberry founder took to his Instagram to laud the achievement of the star player. Sharing a video of Aryna Sabalenka rejoicing after the win, he wrote “Another One 🏆🇨🇳 @arynasabalenka Meu amor is on fire.” For the unversed, the duo started dating in early 2024, and have reciprocated immense support and love for each other since then. Sabalenka has been a vocal supporter of Frangulis’ superfood brand, Oakberry. She has even become an Oakberry ambassador and created a signature açaí bowl for the brand.

Similar reactions were witnessed after the star player lifted her second Grand Slam of the year at the US Open. Taking to social media, Frangulis had then posted a string of photos, posing with Sabalenka, her champion’s cup, and the moments that led to her triumph. The proud entrepreneur, who was seen cheering loudly in the stand, expressed his immense love for his athletic girlfriend and captioned an adorable message. “I’m in love with the Queen of NY,” he wrote. Even the tennis champ said, “I’m so lucky to have you by my side. Your support is priceless.” 

However, there have also been times when Sabalenka’s heartfelt tribute to her boyfriend has taken a blunderous yet humorous shape.

She won both the hardcourt Grand Slams, at the Australian Open, and in New York this year. Besides, she also bagged the trophy at the Cincinnati Masters and now, at the Wuhan Open. But what followed after her Cincinnati win was an embarrassing moment for the player. 

When asked how she manages to deliver interesting addresses and always remembers to thank everyone, Sabalenka was left in splits as she revealed her desire to improve her communication abilities. Sabalenka said, “I think I think I am the worst at speeches. I am the worst.” Continuing further, she added, “I am getting so tight and nervous. I need to remember everyone, I need to, I need to make sure my English sounds good.” And to the intrigue of the tennis community, her challenges with the language were immediately witnessed. 

Thanking her boyfriend after the match, she ended up saying, “Special thank you to my boyfriends… boyfriend.” However, she was quick to realize her mistake. “I said boyfriends, oh my gosh. That’s my terrible English guys.” As the season progresses, it would be interesting to see if Sabalenka secures more victories and if more such romantic exchange takes place between her and Frangulis.
