WTA Star’s Dour Naomi Osaka Comeback Prediction Has Fans Lashing Out at the Former Austrian Pro

The tennis community can’t keep quiet, as Naomi Osaka is all set to make a robust comeback after a lengthy hiatus. After a season-long maternity break, the 4-time singles Grand Slam champion is returning to on-court action in Australia. However, before her much-awaited return to the tour, a bold prediction about the Japanese tennis player has recently infuriated a flurry of fans.

Speaking about Naomi Osaka’s comeback, former WTA player Barbara Schett asserted that the top-ranked players on the women’s tour do not want to play against somebody like Osaka. However, Schett’s statements didn’t sit well with a plethora of fans, who brutally trolled her on social media.

After embracing motherhood, the former No. 1 player will now back to her tennis duties at the Brisbane International. As she prepared for her much-anticipated return to court, Barbara Schett was singing the praises of Naomi Osaka in a recent interview.

Meanwhile, the Austrian tennis veteran also issued her candid take on how top-ranked players, including Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Świątek, do not want to play against somebody like Osaka. She said, “A Swiatek and Sabalenka or Rybakina, does not want to play against somebody like Osaka.”

Reacting to her bold prediction, a fan was quite infatuated as he commented, “Just cool your horses a bit. Who even knows if Osaka will be competitive. Too many breathless predictions.”

Meanwhile, a fan reminded Schett about the previous meeting between Osaka and Świątek. In their Miami Open matchup, the Polish tennis star thumped her Japanese opponent in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0, while pulling off a bagel. Notably, the user said, “Oh please. The last time Iga played Naomi,she won 6:4 6:0”
