“The schedule is flexible, and for me, I like to take a day off a few days before (tournament) to mentally prepare and physically be ready to go” said Katie Boulter earlier this year on her training routine before entering competitions. However, it seems like her ongoing training schedule is making the former World No.23 almost give up! It becomes evident from a social media update, just days before the start of her United Cup campaign for Great Britain.

For the unversed, the third edition of the United Cup, a mix-gender, team-based event comprising of 18 nations, will commence from December 27. It will be played across 11 Australian venues. Among the participating countries is also Great Britain. Apart from Katie, the team also has Jack Draper, Billy Harris, Lily Miyazaki, Charles Broom and Olivia Nicholls. But it appears that Katie can’t catch a break due to her tiring training sessions.

She shared a story on her Instagram, dated December 22, that clearly depicted her struggles. “Those post first Aussie practice feels”, she wrote while expressing her pain through a bunch of sad emojis.

But with every tiring phase, there comes a moment of relief. For Katie, it’s to spend some quality time with her boyfriend and Australian ATP pro Alex de Minaur. The former World No.6 will also compete in the United Cup for his nation. But being at the same venue for the event also means the two will now have a lots of moments with each other. It becomes very clear from Katie’s story on Instagram that she shared earlier this week.

On their way to Australia for the team-based tournament, Katie and Alex boarded the same flight. While arriving in Minaur’s home country, Katie shared a selfie with him from their business class cabin. “Coming for you Australia” she wrote. Her words reflected her underlying enthusiasm for the event. Speaking of Minaur, he donned a full-sleeve t-shirt with a grey cap. On his Instagram account, the loving boyfriend also showed his excitement while mentioning Katie. “When you think you finally gotta get some space,” he wrote as he shared a reel in his story.

But this isn’t the first time they have shared special moments together. The two are known to drop updates on their social handles to keep their fans hooked. Remember, Boulter once revealed, in an adorable fashion, how her beau loved being her model? Just before the ATP Finals in Turin, last month, she shared a selfie of them inside a lift. “@alexdeminaur loves when I take photos”, Katie wrote while revealing how much Alex loves to get captured by her.

For those unaware, the two first came close nearly four years ago during the Australian Open, in 2021. Alex took the initiative by asking Katie Boulter for a coffee date and that’s how the couple started their relationship. Interestingly, there’s a chance that they might face each other during a mixed doubles encounter at the United Cup in few weeks from now. But how? Actually, Katie’s team Great Britain and Alex’s team Australia are placed together in the group F. So there’s a possibility of them going against each other. But will it happen?
