Danielle Collins’ recent surge in the WTA ranking has drawn attention in the tennis world. She is now among the top-four players in the WTA ranking chart. Collins already has the Miami Open title to her name, but adding to that, she is aiming to conquer another championship title at the Charleston Open. She has qualified for the finals of the Charleston Open, extending her winning streak to 12 sets as of now.

Only Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, and Elena Rybakina have won more matches on tour than World No. 22, who secured her 21st victory of the year on Saturday. If things go in her favor, Collins will be participating in the WTA Finals in Saudi Arabia starting on November 2nd. There, she will be competing for a prize of $15.25 million. Last year, it was Iga Swiatek who won the WTA Finals. By the end of that year, Collins’ WTA ranking was 52.

However, this year’s graph shows her incredible potential and her possibility to enter the WTA Finals with grace. Danielle Collins defeated Maria Sakkari with a score of 6-3, 6-3 on Saturday afternoon. And after the win, she shed some light on her performance in the match.

Collins’ “aggressive style” has helped her win the match

Despite switching from hard court to clay, Collins hasn’t let her accomplishments take a backseat. She won her first WTA 1000 championship in Miami precisely a week ago. Collins’ most recent victory brought her head-to-head record against Sakkari to two victories each. “I think my aggressive game style helped me. You have to be very versatile and flexible,” she added after her latest victory against Maria Sakkari.
