Is Elon Musk's $1 million giveaway a bold move or a blatant disregard for legality?

Martina Navratilova has always been a force to be reckoned with—both on and off the tennis court. Known for her fearless style of play during her legendary tennis career, Martina is equally bold when it comes to voicing her opinions. Whether it’s a debate on tennis strategy or a hot-button issues from outside the sporting world, Navratilova isn’t one to stay silent. And now, with the U.S. election season heating up, she’s back in the spotlight, this time with some pointed remarks for none other than tech mogul Elon Musk.

The Tesla Motors CEO sparked a major debate with his sensational announcement of a $1 Million support to former President Donald Trump for the election campaign. Musk announced that he would give away $1 million each day to registered voters in battleground states until the elections are over. “We want to try to get over a million, maybe 2 million voters in the battleground states to sign the petition in support of the First and Second Amendment. … We are going to be awarding $1 million randomly to people who have signed the petition, every day, from now until the election,” he said in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Now, this has drawn scrutiny from political expert and people.

Sharing a post about the debate, an X user seemed to take a dig at the announcement writing, “He has so many lawyers working for him and no one was given a chance to review this and say, sounds illegal.” As soon as the post gained traction, opinions started coming out in huge numbers, and one of those that stood out to tennis enthusiasts was from legend, Martina Navratilova.

Criticizing Musk, Martina Navratilova wrote, “I think Elon knows it’s illegal but doesn’t care. Thinks he can get away with it. And with Garland at the helm, he is right,”. Interestingly, this is not the first time when Navratilova has criticized a political move or a comment by the business mogul.

Navratilova lashed out at Elon Musk for his remarks against US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in September this year. After the attempted assassination of Trump, Musk questioned why someone took such a violent step against the former President. He wrote, “And no one is even trying to assassinate Biden/Kamala.” This seemingly infuriated Navratilova who responded, “Elon needs to STFU. You can’t really strip or at least shouldn’t strip someone of their citizenship but Elon is off the charts a**wipe.” Her comments seem to make sense for a lot of people, however, it’s not always the case. The veteran recently found herself in hot waters over her comments related to the polls.

Martina Navratilova has been always quite open about her support to the Democratic Party. But one of the instances of her support witnessed her engaging in an online tussle with a user who questioned her awareness of the issues that are driving the election campaigns this year.

Taking to her X, Navratilova shared a post that claimed 11 out of 12 key economic measures improved under Biden’s presidency since he assumed office in 2021. Reposting the data, Navratilova wrote, “Hmm. It seems things are better under a Democrat than under a Republican. Meaning Biden is a LOT  better for our economy than Trump. Who knew? I did.” However, this did not sit well with a user.

Responding to her post, the user wrote, “You obviously don’t shop for your own groceries or pay your own car insurance bill.” But Navratilova was not ready to take an offense against herself and was quick to hit back. “I absolutely do. And I live in Florida where all insurance has skyrocketed thanks to our lovely governor. Actually just came back from Publix- why don’t you ask the owner of that chain to stop price gouging???” she said.
