Emma Raducanu made it to the quarter-finals in Eastbourne. The young Briton recently took down none other than Jessica Pegula and therefore crossed a major mark in her career. Everything seemed to be in order as Jessica Pegula managed to get the first set in her name against the Briton. Moving ahead, it seemed like Raducanu was determined to maintain a firm grip in the event and therefore turned the tables in a blink. And this certainly called for a celebration!

“Blank canvas” the WTA star captioned as she posted an adorable picture of her from the matchday. What made the post even more special was the fact that leading WTA stars joined the party and congratulated her on a massive comeback. Katie Boulter, who has attained a similar feat with a showdown against Jeļena Ostapenko, commented on Raducanu’s post.

“Queeeeeen,” she wrote, followed by a ‘fire’ emoji that evenly justified her recent performance. Maintaining the girl gang code with a cheer, Spanish WTA star Paula Badosa also came forward to appreciate her feat. “Emmita emmita😍” she commented, on the same post that revealed the excitement behind Emma Raducanu’s little smile. Besides all the comments, Coco Gauff, the reigning US Open champion, who took down the Briton once back at the Australian Open 2023, liked the post, making it clear that the rise of Raducanu satisfies her.

In a dramatic comeback, Emma Raducanu saved a match point to defeat second-seeded Jessica Pegula at the Eastbourne International! The 2021 U.S. Open champion faced a nail-biting second-set tiebreaker, down 6-5, before battling back for a thrilling victory (4-6, 7-6 (6), 7-5). This win marks Raducanu’s first triumph against a top-10 opponent, with Pegula currently ranked No. 5 in the world. The pressure must have been immense, but Raducanu held her nerve.

The winning point came from a wide forehand by Pegula, leaving the 21-year-old Briton visibly relieved. She dropped her racquet, buried her head in her hands for a moment, and then acknowledged the cheers of the ecstatic home crowd. “I’m pretty drained right now,” she said. “I would say this match is one of the more meaningful ones to me.”

What makes this feat remarkable is because Emma has been struggling to regain momentum in the scene since the start of this season. She had to go through the struggles of multiple surgeries on her wrists and ankles. Although she served fans with a hit on their dreams because of the Olympic denial, it seems like she’s working hard to regain the old strength. However, the Briton was active enough to return the love to the co-player.

Paula Badosa also navigated through the ups and downs of competition in the ongoing season. Although she decided to not travel the singles road in Berlin, the Spaniard made up her mind to finally take the court solo at the Bad Homburg Open. While everyone had a mixed prediction about her journey, she gained confidence and reassured fans by securing a spot in the quarter-finals.
