Tunisian tennis star, Ons Jabeur, has reached three Grand Slam finals but is yet to taste success on the sport’s biggest stage. Moreover, she is struggling with poor form and fitness of late. Recently, she made a saddening revelation ahead of an important tournament.

Jabeur is set to play in the Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championships next week. It is set to be back-to-back events for her, given that she participated in the Abu Dhabi Open and the Qatar Open. Here’s what she had to say about her near future.

Ahead of the WTA 1000 event in Dubai, the 29-year-old appeared in an interview. Jabeur is having problems with her knee and even underwent surgery after the Australian Open. Despite the injury, Jabeur wants to continue playing.

She said, “I think it’s the worst decision you can take because my heart wants to play and my body is not allowing me so much. I feel like I need to take the right decision and sometimes you have to take decisions where your heart is not agreeing with it.”

Further, she went on to add, “But all I know is that I’m doing my best to be ready for this tournament and be ready to play here and compete in front of amazing fans.”

While her form and fitness continue to remain a worry, Jabeur has also been worried about the geopolitical tensions going on recently. A few months back, she made yet another heartbreaking revelation.

When Jabeur was worried about political tensions

At the WTA Finals last year, Jabeur had a solid victory over Marketa Vondrousova. Following her win, she revealed a concerning situation surrounding Palestine.

Jabeur said, “I am very happy with the win but I haven’t been very happy lately. The situation in the world doesn’t make me happy. I can’t be happy with this win. It is not a political message; it is humanity and I want peace in this world.”

Jabeur went on to donate a part of her prize money to Palestine. As a result, she won the hearts of the tennis world for her kind gesture. No wonder, she is one of the most-liked players in the tennis circuit.
