While the tournament didn’t mention any specific reason for the Japanese star’s withdrawal, it may have come amid Osaka playing back-to-back tournaments in Abu Dhabi and Doha.

Osaka’s return to tennis earlier this year came after more than a year of missing tennis action after becoming a new mother. The former World Number 1 wants to prolong her career by making it injury-free. As a result, she is keen on participating in only selected tournaments.

The post about the former World Number One’s withdrawal went viral as soon as it was posted on Twitter and thousands of fans reacted to it. One said, “naomi played two matches and said that’s enough for the next couple of months.”

Similarly, another fan took a sarcastic jibe at her, saying, “naomi played two weeks in a row and said yup that’s enough tennis for a lifetime.”

One Twitter user questioned Osaka’s withdrawal and said, “Naomi??????? don’t tell me ure happy with doha run and so u pulled out.”

One fan who was angry at Osaka’s decision, said, “Shes literally only played two matches in doha and shes already pulling out of dubai??”
