It’ll be interesting to see if Emma Raducanu can really put up a similar impressive performance against someone like Karolina Muchova. The 28-year-old Czech star has been in decent form this year. Although, she couldn’t do much at the AO as she was defeated by the former world number one, Naomi Osaka in the second round by a three-set thriller, Muchova came back strongly in her next tournament. She reached the SF of the Linz Open, but in the semis, she went down to Russia’s Ekaterina Alexandrova by 0-6,4-6. However, Muchova will be entering this contest following her dominating 6-2,6-2 triumph over Suzan Lamens in the previous round.

Prediction: Muchova to win in three sets
Karolina Muchova has been in better form this year, so we’re keeping her ahead in this contest. However, having said that, we are all aware of Emma Raducanu’s potential. She’ll be entering this match following her impressive performance against Sakkari. Surely, Raducanu will gain quite a lot of confidence from that match. Hence, we expect her to put up a strong fight in this match. So, we could possibly see a three-setter!
If we take a look at the numbers, Raducanu (61) has a win-loss record of 3-4, while Muchova (17) has recorded 6-4 so far this season. So, considering all these factors we feel the Czech is clearly the favorite to win this battle.
Now, if we shift our focus to their playing styles, Emma Raducanu has an aggressive style of play and she loves playing it from the baseliner. She has a strong two-handed backhand and can also hit a one-handed backhand with since, to break up the pace of the rallies and disrupt the flow of her opponent’s game. Raducanu has a strong forehand and effective drop shot. Apart from that, the Brit is also known for her incredible return of serve. Her agility and spectacular court coverage make her a really special player on the Tour.
