The WTA Berlin tournament is going to be a star-studded event! However, even though it’s in the early stages, Paula Badosa has left her fans surprised with an unexpected meet-up with Coco Gauff. While both tennis players will be seen participating in the tournament and might even face each other, during the practice session, both of them were seen twinning-winning together.

Recently, the former world number 2 Spanish player took to her Instagram account to share a selfie with the 20-year-old Grand Slam champion. While in the picture, both of them were wearing similar clothes, they kept it casual with black shorts and white tops, but from different brands. While Badosa wore Nike apparel, Gauff went for her favorite brand New Balance.

But apart from the brands, everything was similar, starting from head to bottom, including the color of the shoes they were wearing. Along with that, Paula Badosa wrote, “Matchy match, @cocogauff so great to share the court with you.”

While the American is in her best form, the Spaniard is trying her best to make a great comeback, after dealing with injuries up and down. A few months ago, Badosa talked about her injury struggles and hunger to return to the top, with all the practice and hard work.

She stated, “I want to play as many matches as possible against the top players. And I am not gonna lie, I mean I have this personality that is always going to be like this I want to be back to the best players in the world that’s why I play tennis for and I don’t want to be where I am right now, honestly.”

However, while Gauff has been one of the tough competitors to beat, a few months ago, the 20-year-old American also opened up about the genuine equation she shares with Badosa, just before the Italian Open.

Coco Gauff and Paula Badosa’s genuine connection

Gauff recently talked about her connection with the 26-year-old tennis player at a press conference after winning the third round. She stated, “I think we’re pretty friendly on tour. We aren’t close friends. We’re definitely in different stages. I feel like that’s a lot of me on tour. I think she’s 25 maybe, so five years’ age gap. We’re never going to be close friends, but I’m definitely friendly with her on tour. I always root for her.”

Further, the Spanish player’s struggles, especially her battle with injuries and her attempts to recuperate well, were also mentioned by the second-ranked tennis player. She expressed awareness of the impact these physical setbacks have had on her consistency and performance on the court. She also seems to be aware of some of the other difficulties Badosa has been facing in her personal and professional lives.
