Coco Gauff‘s 20th birthday was a trip to remember, complete with extravagant treats like steak and cakes as well as a big victory in the Indian Wells quarterfinals. Even yet, her match wasn’t without difficulties. She struggled with an unanticipated spike in double faults, which caused havoc on the court. Even after giving her best performance, tennis fans will be confused over her errors during the match.

However, the issue that stayed was: Did the Grand Slam champion allow herself to enjoy cake and steak, or did the prospect of having two faults cloud her festivities when she thinks back on her milestone birthday?

Recently, after winning the quarter-final round of the tournament in a post-match press conference, she was asked about the conversation that she had with Nick McCarvel regarding having cakes and steaks on her birthday. To which she gave a very clear answer regarding how she maintained a distance from her pleasure to put forward her best performance at Indian Wells.

She said, “No, I didn’t actually eat — I did have steak tacos, actually, I did. I don’t think it was the food. But, you know, we’ll see. I won’t eat cake and steak tonight, and if I serve better tomorrow, then I know not to do that again.”

It won’t be wrong to say that after hitting 17 double faults in the quarterfinal match against Yue Yuan, she has maintained a little distance from all her amazing food cravings that might create a hurdle for her on the court. As the 20-year-old is a foodie herself, she also highlighted how there is a possibility that she might eat cakes and steaks if she places better in the semi-final match.

However, the third-ranked tennis player every now and then enjoys trying on different foods while displaying her inner foodie. A few months ago, she also embraced Asian culture, as she tried on different occasions during her trip to China.
