In an interview with the BBC, she shared, “Women’s sports is on a tipping point. I can feel it. There is a real change in the air. More and more people are investing in women and women’s sports”. She further also questioned sponsors who invest in sports. Her question is about them investing the same amount in men’s sports as well as women’s sports. “Are you giving equal attention, money, and marketing to women as you are to men?”, she added.

She has contributed a lot to bringing similar visibility to women’s sports as to men. So her concern about women not having the same marketing and money is definitely worth paying attention to.

King also talks about how women need to understand ‘they are the future’

During the interview with BBC, Jean also shared her view on how much time and energy it has taken for players like her to gauge a place in sports that women have now.”We need to continue to have leaders on and off the court”, she added. She also said that sportswomen like her have helped women’s sports a lot. It has taken them years to build positive growth that shows today.

So, she asked women in sports to understand that they are the future. And to have leaders in sports like them, it is going to take a lot of training and mentoring. She called herself and the players of her time the champions as they showed them that if they can do it, then so can other women.
