While Reese made a saddening revelation after the match, she was strongly backed by Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian.

The Reddit co-founder is a strong promoter of women’s sports and also has stakes in NWSL. His wife and daughter have been huge inspirations behind his inclination towards the women’s game. As a result, Ohanian came to the Reese’s defense.

Serena Williams’ husband slams ‘death threats’

During a press conference, Reese opened up about the hate she has been receiving after rising to fame last year. She even went on to reveal that she has received death threats and hasn’t been happy of late. This is not the first time we have heard an athlete speaking about hatred from fans. Further, Reese’s comments invited strong backing from Alexis Ohanian, who urged fans not to attack athletes.

He took to Instagram and said, “There is zero excuse for death threats and racist bullsh*t Angel is subjected to. Be a decent sports fan: talk your talk, but don’t attack athletes.”  It was the caption of a story where he had shared a post from ESPN that shared Reese’s comments shedding light on the horrifying reality of her situation.

The NCAA player’s recent revelation invited support from all fronts apart from Ohanian and issued a cautionary note to fans slamming athletes. Not just Reese but also Serena Williams has received hate in the past. The American tennis legend once narrated how her appearance became a subject of discussion among the fans.

A few years ago, the 23-time Grand Slam champion made a shocking revelation about her appearance. She went on to reveal how her muscled arms invited jibes from the fans. She narrated, “It was hard for me. People would say I was born a guy, all because of my arms, or because I’m strong.”
