Should Wozniacki prioritize her tennis career or her role as a mother? What's your take?

Behind every success story lie countless hidden sacrifices. Ask Taylor Townsend, who has seen it all in her career. After giving birth to her first child back in 2021, the American tennis star made a comeback to the court a year later. Further, her biggest career success came earlier this season when Townsend teamed up with Katerina Siniakova to win the women’s doubles title at the Wimbledon Championships. It was Townsend’s maiden Grand Slam title and she achieved a unique feat of winning a Slam as a mother. As she readies to repeat that feat at the upcoming US Open, the American star suffered an unexpected emotional breakdown.

While Townsend has traveled across the globe for her tennis commitments, her toddler son remains back home. As a result, she isn’t able to spend quality time with her child, something which she has missed dearly while on tennis tours. Last week, Townsend’s campaign in Cincinnati ended early and she decided to head back home for a couple of days before the US Open. However, she got emotional over the thought of being away from her toddler son again.

Explaining her ordeal, Townsend shared a series of Instagram stories in which she could be heard saying, “So, I just shut my bathroom and had a breakdown because I got back home Saturday afternoon from Cincinnati after leaving tomorrow afternoon for New York. I wish I just didn’t come home because I felt so sad and guilty coming and going. It is the sacrifice that I have to make but it sucks. It is affecting him and these moments are really hard for me.”
