During her recent campaigns on the tour, Danielle Collins has rarely held herself back from talking about her dog, who has had a ‘positive impact’ on her competitive journey. But now that her pet is not accompanying her during the ongoing Charleston Open, the American tennis star opened up about how she is already having withdrawals from missing Quincy, aka, ‘Mr. Q.’

After a straight-set victory against Maria Sakkari in the semifinals, Collins signed the on-court camera with the words, ‘Hi Quincy.’ When asked about her special on-court camera message in a recent interview with the Tennis Channel, the former number 7 player further crowned her dog, the Miami Open ‘MVP.’ She also said, “So Quincy is at home in Florida, watching. Hi, son, hi. I love him so much, I wish he was here. I have been having withdrawals from him all week.”

As she is now one win away from another title this season, Collins said that she is looking forward to seeing her dog with another trophy. She stated, “Talk about him all day and show everybody the pictures. And yeah, I’m looking forward to seeing him on Monday, and hopefully with another trophy.” This is not the first time that the American has talked about her pet during her brilliant run at a tournament.

Even during her participation in the second event of the Sunshine Doubles, Collins credited her pet, whom she also calls her ‘son’, for ‘positively’ impacting her campaign.

Danielle Collins previously hailed ‘Mr. Q’ during her triumphant run at the Miami Open

In a press conference at the outdoor hardcourt event, the American player was asked what sets apart her Miami Open campaign from past appearances in other tournaments. Collins answered by opening up about how having Mr. Q in Miami has had a positive impact on her stellar run, as she later went on to win her maiden WTA 1000 title.

While revealing that her weeks are better with her ‘son,’ the WTA superstar said, “Yeah, I have never made a final of a tournament having my dog here. That has had a positive impact, for sure. “ Collins added, “Having my son here means a lot. It’s also different. I think some of the matches that I have played, I have played very efficient, I haven’t spent a lot of time on court.”
