Ons Jabeur has finally taken the TV screens with her presence at Wimbledon. The Tunisian recently battled against Moyuka Uchijima to secure a position in the second round. Although the WTA star had a tough time throughout this season due to injuries and emotional setbacks, she was still seeded because of her history at the event. However, despite that, the scheduling pattern presented her with a snub even after having better amenities available.

Ons Jabeur, who is considered to be a favorite because of being the runner-up in the last two Wimbledon finals, was scheduled to play her opening match against Moyuka Uchijima on Court 14 on July 2, 2024. While everyone expected a better slot for the Tunisian, the decision taken by the authorities surrounded them with questions. Especially considering her remarkable history at the tournament, many believe that she deserved a prestigious court for her opening-round match.

Seeded 10th this year, Ons Jabeur had to navigate her way through a challenging season full of illness and injuries which led to an inconsistent form. Despite these setbacks, the Tunisian managed to keep her name forward as a strong contender. While she was seeded sixth and made it to the finals back in 2023, scheduling her match on Court 14, even after the important matches on the main courts were concluded, came out as an insult to her.

However, Jabeur is expected to remain unbothered by the schedule plans. She walked in with a calm mind and lesser expectations this time, fully focused on just the efforts. “I know I’m doing everything 100 percent. I have a team behind me that’s always supporting me and I’m going to leave 100 percent on the court. And if it comes, it comes, and if not, I know I have no regrets because I tried everything,” she said in a recent interview.

Despite being placed on a lesser-valued court, the Tunisian managed to ignore the emotional aspects and therefore paid attention to keeping her levels intact. The British crowd seemed to have a thing for her as they saved a warm welcome for her.

Using high levels of confidence after being treated with such a response, the 29-year-old unleashed her dominance, keeping the match limited to just 55 minutes. Now that she looks forward to her upcoming showdown against Robin Montgomery, it is to be seen if the authorities save a better slot for her.
