Wimbledon 2024 is a whirlwind of emotions – a heartbreaker for some, a coming-of-age story for others. Remember those early odds that surprised everyone? Iga Swiatek, fresh off her French Open victory, was the favorite despite her worst winning percentage on grass among other surfaces. It’s time for fresh ODDS! Coco Gauff’s youthful exuberance, Naomi Osaka’s powerful return to form, or Iga Swiatek’s relentless dominance has pushed Jabeur lower on the list. Did the oddsmakers underestimate the Tunisian’s mastery of the green surface?
The outdoor grass event in Berlin currently has the attention of all the WTA fans. Coco Gauff, who made it to the quarter-finals with a massive win over Ekaterina Alexandrova is set to face Ons Jabeur, last year’s Wimbledon runner-up. During the broadcast of the showdowns in Berlin, a pop-up took over the TV screens, depicting the best picks for this year’s grass court major event. And guess what Ons was nowhere to be found at the top!

Iga Swiatek has a massive history on clay courts but when it comes to showcasing her potential on grass, the Pole hasn’t proved to be quite impressive in the past. Her 70.9% win rate on grass is impressive, but it pales in comparison to her dominant 81.8% win rate overall, highlighting grass as her least successful surface. Even after that, the ‘Odds To Win 2024 Wimbledon’ by BETMGM placed Swiatek on top of the list. Along with that, top-ranked players like Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina, Coco Gauff, and Naomi Osaka also found themselves in the Top 5 slots!
As the grass gets greener and the strawberries get sweeter, Wimbledon fever takes hold. But before the champions are crowned, let’s dive into the world of betting odds by Bettors Insider and see what they tell us about the potential winners of Wimbledon 2024:
Women’s Favorites | How? |
Iga Swiatek (+350): | The French Open champion sits atop the odds board, but a +350 payout suggests there’s some uncertainty. While dominant on clay, Swiatek’s historical struggles on grass raise questions about her ability to translate her form. |
Coco Gauff (+750): | The young American prodigy is a crowd favorite, and her odds reflect a potential breakout year. At +750, a win for Gauff would be a significant upset, but her recent form suggests she shouldn’t be entirely counted out. |
Aryna Sabalenka (+275): | A powerful server and aggressive baseliner, Sabalenka is a constant threat. Her odds at +275 indicate she’s a serious contender with a strong chance of reaching the latter stages. |
Ons Jabeur (+1300): | Despite reaching the finals twice in the past two years, Jabeur finds herself as a long shot at +1300. Can the Tunisian queen of clay overcome her historical struggles at Wimbledon and finally lift the trophy? |
Naomi Osaka (+1100): | A two-time Grand Slam champion, Osaka’s return to form has been captivating. Her +1100 odds suggest she’s a player to watch, but questions remain about her consistency. |

Each player is currently gearing up to test their levels at Wimbledon. Set to start in almost a week, the tournament will be the primary focus of Ons Jabeur, considering that she can solidify her focus after her withdrawal from the Paris Olympics. However, besides proving her levels on the surface, Ons Jabeur once opened up about her feelings for grass.
Ons Jabeur reveals the reason behind grass courts being her forte
Having a consistent grip on all surfaces is what it takes to attain the top spot in the WTA rankings. However, besides that, players still have some or the other surface as their best pick and therefore tend to perform well on those, as they don’t play not only to compete but also to enjoy. Jabeur, who remained consistent in securing the runner-up position at Wimbledon in 2022 and 2023, once explained the reason behind her flow on the green surface.

“I always want to say that grass is my favorite surface, but I cannot really because there is only, like, two or three tournaments per year on grass, which is a very short season,” said the Tunisian, making it clear that grass is her best pick and eventually the reason behind her massive runs on the surface.
It is just a matter of days that players will gather around in Wimbledon to battle for glory. Although Ons Jabeur had to go through a snub for the lack of consideration of her potential, it remains to be seen if she will be able to prove them wrong.
