Jabeur has had a demotivating time in Wimbledon since 2022. Despite reaching the finals against Elena Rybakina, Jabeur fell short against the Kazakhstani player following a 6-3, 2-6, 2-6 defeat. Next year, following sheer hard work, this world number 10 tennis player again reached the Wimbledon finals the next year but lost to Czechia’s Markéta Vondroušová by 4-6, 4-6.
The second loss at the finals shattered Ons Jabeur as she almost broke down in tears after the match. “It will be tough to speak because this is very tough. I am going to look ugly in the photos so that’s not going to help. I think this is the most painful loss of my career,” she said in the post-match interview.
However, this time, Jabeur felt more practical about her performance at the upcoming Grand Slam event. Taking a lesson from her past failures, Jabeur said, “I feel it’s great what I achieved. Obviously, it becomes more and more personal for me because it’s always tough to arrive to the final and not win it. But I’m going to keep chasing my dream and what I’ve learned is that I shouldn’t be afraid of failing because that’s where I’m really courageous.”
