Naomi Osaka‘s luck hasn’t been permitting her dreams lately! After her Roland Garros run ended early this season, she went on to plan her next move on the grass surface. In her Wimbledon warm-up tournament recently, Osaka faced another setback despite performing well. However, her bad luck didn’t end there as she faced a new disappointment on her way to Britain.

Naomi Osaka took to her official Instagram story to showcase her recent misery at the airport as she was heading towards London to attend the Wimbledon tournament. Sharing a picture of her trolley bags and a Louis Vuitton duffle bag, Osaka wrote, “Don’t you love it when you spend most of the day at the airport and then your flight gets canceled?” This Japanese tennis star further sarcastically added a pleased emoticon and a skull emoji to showcase her frustration to her social media followers.

Osaka was in the Netherlands taking part in the s-Hertogenbosch tournament to warm up before attending the grass-court major in London. However, she lost against Canada’s Bianca Andreescu by 4-6, 6-3, and 6(3)-7(7) in an intense tie-break match in the quarterfinals.

After losing in the Netherlands, Osaka suffered her second setback while traveling to attend the Wimbledon 2024 tournament where she received a wild card. In 2023, this Japanese tennis star withdrew from the British Grand Slam tournament due to her pregnancy. In 2022, Osaka chose to opt out of this grass-court major due to a leg injury. She also couldn’t play at Wimbledon in 2021 as she was on a much-needed mental health break.

Missing out on this important British Grand Slam for three consecutive years might have increased the Japanese tennis star’s desire to participate and show her skills in such a prestigious tournament.

With her wish to participate in Wimbledon, Osaka has also been dreaming about the Olympics for a long time. This time she has the chance to compete in the Paris Olympics representing her country Japan at such an important sports event.

Earlier in an interview in April, Osaka revealed her childhood memories of watching the exclusive sports event. “Growing up watching the Olympics on TV, I felt that it was a celebration of sport, I thought it brought everyone together and just to be able to be an athlete there and interact with other athletes is one of the funniest things that I’ve ever done,”- said Osaka.

Nevertheless, Naomi Osaka’s recent trouble on her journey to Wimbledon must have disappointed the Japanese tennis star to some extent. However, Osaka’s resilience and determination will make her perform on the British grass court major at her best.
