Reigning US Open champion Coco Gauff knows how to have fun. While her serves and double faults have landed her in trouble since the Madrid Open, Gauff is not ready for it to be status quo. Instead, this talented American WTA star has taken up the challenge to improve her serve, but in a quirky style. As she practices on the British grass, Gauff shows her sassy serving skills!
A Coco Gauff fan took their X page to share a clip from her TikTok page, where Gauff is wearing the all-white Wimbledon attire. Gauff did a small catwalk followed by a twirl, which ended with her putting her racquet on her shoulder. “my coach told me to practice my serve so I did,” wrote Gauff, adding a kiss emoji. While her coach asked her to practice, her tennis serves, Gauff ‘served’ herself in front of her followers in a cool avatar showcasing some deadly moves.
Sharing the clip, the Coco Gauff fan wrote, “PURRRR COCO But fr girl practice that serve.” While the fraternity loved seeing Coco Gauff enjoying her practices before the British Grand Slam, they were also concerned about Gauff’s serving skills.

Coco Gauff’s serving skills shot her in the food during the French Open 2024. In her semifinal match against Iga Swiatek, Gauff made 3 aces but also hit 4 double faults. During her performance at the Madrid Open this year, she was criticized by industry veterans like Serena Williams’ former coach, Rennae Stubbs. “Everyone talked about the forehand…What the f*ck..again, the serve is killing her.” Calling it a “no-no” Stubbs expressed how the Roland Garros women’s doubles champion is “double faulting outrageously.”
Serena Williams’ former coach highlighted Gauff’s Madrid Round of 16 match against Madison Keys, which Gauff lost due to errors in her serving skills. Gauff made 13 double faults, which forced her exit from the tournament after a defeat against Keys by 6-7, 6-4, 4-6. Gauff’s admirers have since been concerned with the American WTA star’s serving skills. Following in the Italian Open, Gauff’s double faults increased to 41 in just four matches.
American legend Andy Roddick also highlighted how Gauff’s double faults stopped her from entering the tennis’s top three with Swiatek, Rybakina, and Sabalenka. “I think Coco was in that conversation, post-US Open last year. I think she’s maybe struggled a little bit more, a lot of double faults,” said Roddick.

Following the opinions of two tennis experts, Rennae Stubbs and Andy Roddick, it seemed that Gauff really needs to focus on improvising her serving skills before Wimbledon. However, the reigning US Open champion is focused on improving her game as she revealed dedication to making her serve error-free.
Coco Gauff reveals the “focus” when tackling improvement on her serve
In the Roland Garros, Gauff defeated Jessica Pegula to reach the tournament’s semifinals against Swiatek. After defeating Pegula, Gauff spoke about her faulty serving skill and said, “I’ve been working on it, I think for me the focus will be getting more first serves in. I think my first-serve percentage was low, but my win percentage was in the high 70s or something like that. I think once I can get that down… There’s definitely technical changes I’m trying to make.”

Coco Gauff’s statement expressed that her faulty serving skills raised concerns about the reigning US Open champion as she wished “to think long-term.” She explained how her victory against Jessica Pegula remained special as she found such victories “more positive and optimistic” when she is not playing her “best and still finding a way,”
Nevertheless, Coco Gauff’s latest TikTok clip brought a smile to the fraternity’s face, showing the confidence and zeal in the reigning US Open champion’s heart to improve and do better in professional tennis. As the faults in her serve eat up her potential, Gauff works overtime to ensure that she does not have any issue with the skill.
