Venus Williams starting a new chapter—Is she the greatest female athlete of all time?

Alexis Ohanian is always around to cheer for his sister-in-law Venus Williams. Whether it be her appearance on the cover of the PAPER magazine or the tennis icon lighting up Vogue World runaway in June, Ohanian makes sure to hype up the tennis legend. Venus is also closely knit to the family with Serena asking her help in selecting a name for the couple’s second child, Adira. Thus, it came as no surprise that the Reddit co-founder was hands-on to share his delight at Venus’s latest achievement.

After her debut writing Come to Win in 2010, the 5x Olympic medalist launched a new second book titled Strive: 8 Steps to Find Your Awesome, which culls from the tenets of an impressive career that has spanned nearly 30 years now, underscoring the journey from a debilitating illness that came as a shock in 2011 when she was diagnosed with Sjögren’s syndrome to peak health.

These eight steps are: observe, appreciate, balance, enrich, soothe, believe, inspire and the titular strive. The hype for the launch was so palpable that Swarovski, in their brand’s Fifth Avenue flagship, had hosted Venus Williams in honor of her upcoming book on Sunday, followed by being on the October cover of Harper’s Bazaar magazine and the September cover for the US edition of the Business Traveler, appearing on Good Morning America show to talk about her book and tons of IG posts to market her book that started on Aug 13 when she first announced the opening for pre-ordering her book.

The book is finally here. So, talking about her book, when Venus spoke to ELLE at the Swarovski event, “My passion for helping people live their best lives comes from the incredible support I’ve received throughout my own career, and the desire to pay that forward,” it is quite true in reality. Just see how a vocal supporter of Venus’s work in Ohanian was right there on time to upload a video to his Instagram Stories to talk about Williams’ new book. He appealed to his followers by leading with his own example,

A huge shoutout to my amazing sis Venus Williams. Her new book is out, I just got my copy, that’s right I bought my own. I will get it autographed by her though,” said Ohanian revealing his support for his sister-in-law.

The Reddit co-founder then urged his followers to order their copies. For that, he added the book’s purchasing link from Amazon fulfilling his duty as a rightful brother-in-law. The seven-time Grand Slam champion is doing her part by sharing a video on Instagram to announce the launch. “I’m so excited to finally share that my new book, STRIVE, is here! It’s been such a journey putting all my experiences and lessons into words, both from life and from the tennis court,” she wrote.

Williams had a clear motivation for her new book. In an interview with ELLE on September 9, she said the book was inspired by her own journey and she wanted “to create something that could empower others to embrace their own challenges, set ambitious goals, and find fulfillment in the process.”

Apart from being a successful tennis player and an author, Venus Williams also owns a design firm, V Starr, and an AI interior design platform, called Palazzo. She is also the founder of a plant-based protein company known as Happy Viking.

Among many compliments that she received for her book, Ohanian’s words will likely hold a special place. One will be troubled finding an instance where Queen V’s achievements did not receive Ohanian’s support. Last year in May, she appeared on PAPER Magazine’s cover and Ohanian was quick enough to shower love on his sister-in-law. He shared the cover shoot’s photos on his Instagram story and wrote, “Let’s go, Great cover sis.

She also appeared on Newsweek’s cover to celebrate Title IX’s 50th anniversary in 2022. Venus appeared on the magazine’s cover taking a stand against this social issue and talked about her experience with the problem in her professional life. Williams’ social work initiative received much applause from Ohanian.

Recently we saw the Williams sisters appear at the runway at Vogue World on June 24, and Ohanian didn’t stop shy of praising their look. He took to X to share Venus’s post and wrote, “Y’all killed it.”

While Venus’ brother-in-law is excited about Strive, her baby sister Serena is not lagging behind. Before the book was released in the market, the 23-time Grand Slam champion made a separate social media post to advertise her elder sister’s multitalented personality.
