Rogers, who is waiting for her first match at the 2024 US Open against Jessica Pegula, made a bold claim. Burdened with many injuries in recent years, this American WTA star decided to put an end to the sport she has passionately played for years. Taking this news to her fans on social media, Rogers began with an emotional note, saying she would “play this sport forever” only if her body permitted. However, multiple injuries have taken a toll on her, leading her to this massive decision.

There really aren’t enough words for this moment, but I can confidently say that I have pushed my body to its limit. These last couple of years fighting with injuries and surgeries have been challenging. … Now my body is telling me it’s time,” were her significant phrases from a long note that she shared with her followers.

Rogers also opened up about playing her final tournament in Flashing Meadows. While she didn’t mention why she chose this tournament to mark her final professional days, the fraternity could easily guess it.

The American reached the US Open’s quarterfinals in 2022 and defeated the then-WTA no 1 Ashleigh Barty in the third round of the Grand Slam. After six attempts, it was the first time Rogers defeated Barty, which is why the US Open is always close to the American’s heart. Now on her career’s final American Grand Slam participation, Rogers could not be more delighted.
