Williams in a recent interview shared how important the mother-daughter bond and its elements are. She said, “I can see when I’m looking at Olympia. I’m like, God, the innocence, the asking like, she’ll be like, Mom, can I have this? And I’m thinking, why are you asking me? Then I’m like, Oh, yeah. And she gets so extra.”
“Like mom said, Yes, I can wear this shoe. And I’m like, it’s such a small thing that I’m so removed from. That is like, that meant the world for me to say yes to her. You know what I mean? And so it’s just like gosh, she really values my opinion,” the former World no.1 added.
Williams claimed her 23rd major title in the Australian Open, tied the knot and welcomed Olympia with Alexis Ohanian in 2017. From there, her journey as a mother commenced. She learned a variety of things and from caring for and nurturing her little one to having her in the stands cheer and support her, Williams has come a long way.
Williams’ last dance
The seven times Wimbledon champion, after losing the chance to touch the milestone of 100 victories in the grass courts of London, announced her retirement. She signed up for the WTA 1000 events in Toronto and Cincinnati to oil her skills for the hard courts of the US Open. The tournament witnessed her first major triumph.

Williams, after incurring an early exit in both the former events, stepped into the Artur Ashe stadium on 30th August for her last run. At first, she locked horns with the former World No.46 Danka Kovinić. After outclassing her, she took down the second seed and former World no.2 Anett Kontaveit.
