What’s better than having a partner who shares your love for sports? For Serbian tennis sensation Olga Danilovic, the answer is simple—nothing beats it! Riding high on her impressive run at the Australian Open, Olga is gearing up for her third-round clash. But amidst the fierce competition, she’s got an MVP cheering her on from the sidelines: her boyfriend, Jan Oblak. But how did their worlds collide, and what’s the story behind this sports power couple?

The Serbian tennis sensation is all set to face Jessica Pegula at the Rod Laver Arena in just a couple of hours. While the match will definitely not be easy for her, she will rely heavily on some moral support, with her boyfriend Oblak leading the fray. Notably, Oblak knows the heat of such important moments. How, you ask? Well, it is due to his own athletic background.

Jan Oblak is a well-known soccer player who represents the La Liga club Atlético Madrid as a goalkeeper and captains the Slovenian national team. Arguably, he is also believed to be one of the best goalkeepers currently in the game, and his fame is clear from the 1.7 million followers that he has on Instagram. On March 13 last year, Oblak became the first goalkeeper in Champions League history to win three penalty shoot-outs with one club, after he successfully defended two penalties in a penalty shoot-out win against Inter Milan. But how and when did the couple start dating?

Danilovic met her boyfriend in Madrid and their bond soon turned romantic. The WTA star confirmed her relationship to the Serbian Media during her Roland Garros campaign in 2023. “He means a lot to me,” she said, humorously adding, “It is now clearer why I am based in Madrid.” Since then, they have engaged in a slew of adorable moments on social media. On August 15th last year, Danilovic shared a picture of herself with her beau on her Instagram as they radiated with joy holding each other’s hand. Captioning the post, she shared an emoji, “♥️.” Notably, their bond is not just limited to romance.

In 2023, when asked how her relationship helps Danilovic in her Grand Slam runs, she dished out an honest opinion to Mozzart Sport. “When you feel good, everything becomes more beautiful, easier, and better. That’s how it is when you feel fulfilled in every aspect. But primarily, it takes hours and hours on the court, in the gyms, and fitness centers. Definitely, when things are good off the court, maybe it can be better on the court, let’s say it that way.” But when it comes to tennis, Danilovic looks upon someone else – a Serbian legend – as her inspiration and draws motivation from him. Yes, you guessed it right. It’s none other than Novak Djokovic.
