Maria Sakkari is currently making waves with her amazing performance at the Indian Wells 2024. While the tennis star has grown up in a family that breathes the racket sport, her sister Amanda also experienced the life of a tennis player, ending up with a big switch in her profession after that. Despite the family’s passion for tennis, Amanda felt the urge to explore other interests.

“It was too much in the family, I just wanted out,”  she mentioned in an interview. Amanda’s older sister, Maria, pursued a tennis career, but her journey influenced Amanda in unexpected ways. While shadowing Maria during her media obligations, Amanda discovered her fascination with film and television production. “I’m really interested in film and TV and going into the production side of that,” she shares. “I think the Netflix stuff has inspired me.”

Despite her family’s tennis legacy, Amanda is determined to carve her own path. “I would not say no to sports, but I want to also make my own path for myself,” she asserts. Through her sister’s journey, Amanda found inspiration to pursue her passion for media, proving that sometimes the best lessons come from family.

Amanda reveals the major point of focus during a tournament

Besides mentioning the whole family’s connection with the tennis world, Maria Sakkari’s sister Amanda also talked about what, according to her attracts her focus in a tournament. Amanda, who is frequently spotted in the box during her sister’s matches, said, “I never in a tournament talk about the result, or the tennis, or what time is your practice. I’m more like what are we going to eat, or this is what’s happening in my life, try and get her mind away from tennis because that would reduce some pressure.”

Dropping this witty response about her and Maria’s taste adventures during matches, she not only gave fans a hint about the behind-the-scenes off the court but also dropped another example of their adorable chemistry.
