Iga Swiatek’s meteoric rise to success in tennis is secret to none! The Polish tennis star is now vying for her fifth French Open crown , where she has previously won three times. However, there is also a lesser-known story that revolves around her 25-year-old sister, Agata Swiatek. Agata, who was present on-court to witness Swiatek’s first victory at the Roland Garros in 2022, also shares an interest in tennis like her younger sister!

Iga Swiatek’s father, Tomasz, who once was an Olympic rower, had one wish regarding his two children. He wanted her daughters to take up sports and make their own individual identities in the athletic world. While Swiatek, the world No. 1, is already moving in that direction, her sister Agata diverted from athletics quite early on.

Much like her sister, Agata Swiatek also shared an interest in tennis as a kid. Although she had a brief career (9 months) in the ITF Junior Circuit in 2013, Iga Swiatek’s older sister had to quit tennis at 15. The reason being her injuries. Soon, Iga Swiatek stepped onto the tennis court, a sibling whose initial interest lied in swimming. Although her initial aim was to beat Agata Swiatek, Iga found her calling in tennis and kept on pursuing her dream from there on.

On the other hand, Agata immersed herself in academics. A believer in logical thinking, she graduated (with the second-highest result) in 2022 after studying dentistry at the Medical University of Lublin. Currently, she practices in Warsaw in two different dental clinics. Her day-to-day life includes simple surgery and treating patients with a constant will to improve her skills and expand her knowledge further. Therefore, she is often found taking her training by participating in different medical courses.

Not only that, Iga Swiatek’s older sister is also simultaneously completing a periodontology course, a field that has always interested her. Apart from participating in various conferences (for example: The Polish Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry), Agata Swiatek also has certain hobbies that she enjoys doing. “(I FaceTimed) my dad and my sister. So I did the same after Madrid. I am in a bubble, and during the tournaments, I am not talking to anybody, very honestly. So, after the tournament, I always catch up,” Swiatek told Tennis Channel. Further adding, Swiatek continued, “For sure, they are the most important people in my life. So I wanted to call and I wouldn’t be here without my dad. So I’m grateful. And I wanted to call them.”

Iga Swiatek’s next goal is clear: winning the French Open tournament for the third time in a row. But whether she achieves her victory or not, the Polish tennis pro will always have her sister cheering her on by her side.
