At Wimbledon 2021, Raducanu earned a massive following after her run as a wildcard entrant. At that time, the experienced Nigel Sears, the father-in-law of Andy Murray, coached her. But despite her successful week in London, the 18-year-old Raducanu moved on from him after Wimbeldon.

Who is coaching Emma Raducanu?

After Wimbledon, Raducanu appointed Andrew Richardson as the head coach. Following which, many experts questioned her decision.

In comparison, Richardson did not have the experience on the professional tour that Sears had. However, the young tennis star had her priorities set.

Going from Wimbledon to the US Open series, Raducanu needed someone familiar by her side. As a result, she went back to Richardson, who developed her tennis basics as the head coach of Bromley Tennis Centre when she was a young girl.

Undeniably, her decision paid off well in the end. At the US Open 2021, Raducanu became the first-ever qualifier to win a Grand Slam in the history of the sport. Hence, as an 18-year-old, she already has her name in the history books of the sport.

Probably, this could be her long-term investment into the future. Given Richardson’s expertise in her game and style, he could play a massive role in making her a complete player.
