While the couple went public with their relationship at the WTA 2021 finals, they started dating a while before that. The tennis champion described her first encounter in an interview with HOLA! Spain that was released around the same time that she made her engagement public.

Muguruza claimed that she first encountered Borges while taking a selfie with her on the streets of New York. When Mugurza visited New York for the US Open, she went for a walk in Central Park to get away from her hotel. There, she encountered Borges, who offered Muguruza good luck at the US Open and requested a selfie in return.

When the internet-famous couple matched their outfits in Maldives

The couple has been famous ever since they went public. The two have shared many moments of their lives on social media for their fans to keep up to date with the new developments. The couple went on a vacation to the Maldives in November 2022 which had quite a few highlights.
