Amanda Anisimova will have a lot to accomplish when she steps on the court on Saturday in the Qatar Open final against Jelena Ostapenko. World No.41 Anisimova secured a spot in just her second WTA 1000 final after defeating Ekaterina Alexandrova in the SF round on Friday. Not to mention the young sensation’s dream run in Doha has attracted many eyeballs on her. While fans are keen to witness her action on the court, some of them might be interested in her personal life too!
Off court, the American tennis star generally keeps her personal profile low. But we do know that she has someone who she adores a lot – her boyfriend. Well, his name is Tyler Roos. They both have been in a relationship since mid-2020, when they first began dating. Amanda met Tyler following a tragic incident in her life.
Back in August 2019, her father, Konstantin Anisimov, had passed away. “It was the worst thing that ever happened to me,” she said, as reported by The New York Post in January 2020. “It was very tough.” At some point in that year, she met Tyler and since then they have been together. Before meeting Amanda, Roos had mentioned that “I haven’t been in a relationship now for a while,” as reported by Now To Love in November 2019. For a relationship, his main goal was to find “the right person and settling down.”

For the uninitiated, Tyler is an Australian model and an athlete as well. He’s got some football genes as well, thanks to his father. Well, his father is Paul Roos, who’s a former rules coach of the Australian Football League, has been a coach of the Sydney Swans and Melbourne Football Club. Paul was later inducted in the Australian Football’s Hall of Fame too.
For a brief period, Tyler was even a part of the AFL club Southport Sharks. But then he switched his interest to do modeling in Melbourne. He was also a part of the fourth season of the reality TV show Australia’s Amazing Race. There, he ended up with Leg 11 with partner Tom. Plus, he even bagged a holiday in the Northern Territory.
Meanwhile, Anisimova’s main goal, right now, must be on tennis and why not? After all, she’s in the final of 2025 Qatar Open this weekend. She’s already made her thoughts clear ahead of her title clash against Jelena Ostapenko. But how’s her preparation going before the big battle?

Amanda Anisimova’s been working “very hard” for Qatar
The 23-year-old WTA star had to do some heavy-lifting during her stellar run in Doha. Before making it to her second WTA 1000 final, she beat five Top 30 players in the event, including 2025 Australian Open semifinalist Paula Badosa.
After registering the win in the semifinal against Ekaterina Alexandrova, Anisimova spoke about her preparations for this event. Seems like the constant hard work has paid off well. “I have been working very hard,” she said ahead of the final. Moreover, she also gave full credit to her team for her growth and progress. “Both my team and I have done great work in the preseason, so I believe it is paying off here. I am very happy with the results and the performance I have been able to achieve here in Doha this week,” she added.

While she was determined to have a deep run at the Qatar Open, Anisimova didn’t realize it until she overcame the likes of Marta Kostyuk, Leylah Fernandez, Victoria Azarenka, and Paula Badosa. Reflecting on her win against them, she revealed, “I have been facing great opponents, and to have won all these matches has been fantastic. I am super happy to be in the final, I have been enjoying this adventure in Doha a lot, the crowd has been amazing”
On Saturday, all the eyes will remain on Amanda’s performance against Latvia’s Ostapenko. It will be their second face-off in a WTA match. Interestingly, their previous meeting was at this very event. In 2022’s edition of the Qatar Open, they met during the second round. Back then, Ostapenko edged out Anisimova with a score line of 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. Will the American take her revenge this time? Only time will tell. What’s your prediction about this anticipated clash?
