There’s no escaping Linda Noskova’s name in tennis circles these days! This Czech Republican WTA star already garnered a lot of attention by defeating WTA topper Iga Swiatek in the Australian Open tournament’s quarterfinals this season. WTA’s rising star didn’t stop there and defeated Jelena Ostapenko to proceed to the Stuttgart Open’s round 2. Following her incredible start to this season, the fraternity seems curious about her tennis journey, which started when Noskova was just six. Her family had played an indispensable role!

Born on 17th November 2004 in the Vsetin region’s Bystricka village, Linda is the daughter of Czech nationals Drahos Nosk and Ivana Noskova. At just the age of six years, Noskova’s father introduced her to the tennis world. Then a year later, she began training in Valaske Mezirici. Post which, a famous club TK Na Dolina included her in the team in Trojanovice near Frenstat pod Radhostem when when she turned ten. In 2018, she moved to Přerov because of tennis. A year later was a miracle.

In 2019, Noskova finally became a pro tennis player under the coaching of Tomas Krupa, who had previously coached Karolina Pliskova, Barbora Strycova, and Tomas Berdych. Admiring Noskova’s personality, Krupa once said- “She is very introverted, but on the other hand, when it comes to tennis things, you get along very well with her. He answers sensibly and eloquently. Mentally, she is very well prepared for tennis. I have the feeling that she is relatively strong in her head.”

Linda Noskova seeks her tennis inspiration from America’s legendary Serena Williams. She once said– “Serena Williams is my biggest idol from the very beginning, so I’m trying to go in her path,” She revealed that sharing her court with Williams for a doubles match in the US Open 2022, was her career’s best moment. From her father to Williams, Noskova’s entry to tennis seems to have been motivated by her love for the people she admires.

Linda Noskova has also garnered the attention of WTA’s leading players including Iga Swiatek. This Polish tennis player spoke highly of Noskova after accepting her defeat against the Czech Republican star.

Defeating a talent like Iga Swiatek must have been difficult for Noskova but she made it anyway. Swiatek commented after the match- “It was tough to read her serve, I know I did everything I could, and I have kind of no regrets, but for sure I wish I could have played a little it better. I felt like I had everything under control until she broke me in the second set.”

Noskova defeated Swiatek by 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the third round and impressed the tennis fraternity with her indomitable spirit. After defeating Swiatek, Delighted Noskova said- “I mean, I just believed my game tonight, I just really wanted this win because I didn’t really come to that court with the thought of, like, I have nothing to lose. I took it very seriously.”

Linda Noskova’s tennis journey might start with her family but her idealization of Serena Williams brings a fiery spirit in her. Now the fans are curious to see her performance at the Stuttgart Open.
